Service-related Feedback

  • Well, I don't know when this city boy will get to head up this way again (even though the people and beer are great and Central Wisconsin's greenery and blue lakes are beautiful in the summer), but I thought I ought to dedicate my first ever Yelp review to the helpful and honest staff here, especially Doug, who was the guy in charge of taking care of my car.

    To cut a long story short, my car got stuck in a snowstorm here in December (the same storm in which the Metrodome's roof collapsed), and I ruined my transmission trying to get out of a snowbank.  I then considered giving up and sending my car to the junkyard--but fortuitously, AAA recommended that I get my car towed to the Auto Select here.

    Auto Select was able to get me a lower price on a replacement transmission than what was on the initial quote, which was already reasonably priced.  On top of that, they replaced a burnt-out bulb on the dashboard panel while I was in California visiting family over the holidays. Replacing bulbs is something I normally do myself, but in this case, it wasn't as simple as I thought it should be, and was really annoying the hell out of me.  Finally, Auto Select garaged the car for me for a couple of weeks, until I was back in Chicago and free to take a day-long bus/train ride up to the Point, where the car was ready and waiting for me.  The transmission has since been running smoothly, and my car has a new lease on life.

    They treated an outsider like me very well in my time of need, and I have no reason to believe that they would treat the locals any differently.  If I lived in the Stevens Point area in Central Wisconsin and needed car service, I would certainly trust my car with the folks here. - Roderick C., Chicago, IL

  • I have never had any problems there and they are very good about giving quotes too. When I take my vehicle there they are nice and friendly. I like the friendliness of the people there. They also do some simple things for no charge. I had some parts put in my truck once and they charged me only for the new parts. Other places ask me to get my own parts. I like going there. The garage is clean and professional looking. They are friendly and talk to you. It is a nice environment there. Since, I'm not a mechanic, it was my safety net to ensure that I wasn't getting taken advantage of. It has happened. In college we had a car that was low on transmission fluid. The Broadway garage suggested to rebuild the transmission with an $1100 estimate. With having three vehicles, two of which have high miles, there is always that stress of knowing that at any time there may be a big bill. I know it isn't fun, giving people the news of "the damages". Repeatedly, you have gone out of your way to soften that pain. Finding a coupon, bundling labor charges for multiple repairs, standing behind a warranty, etc. In the case of today-all of the above. Since I put on more miles on and keep cars longer than the average person, I have come to expect more repairs. Long story short, I have always hated going to auto places. When it comes to cars, I know nothing. I have my car I drive basically to and from work. It is an 04 Alero and about 3 years ago I had A/C troubles. I don't drive it much and I have feared getting it fixed as I don't have an extra $1,000 or time to go to a shop multiple times. Yesterday I made the leap and went to your Appleton East Location by Menards to have it looked at. I was shocked that not only did I get it looked at right away, but I had it fixed in about an hour (while I could work on your Wi-Fi and watch DirectTV!) and it cost less than $200!!! I've never been so upset at myself for going without A/C for the past few summers.
